OUR VISION

OUR VISION

...to be a learning, loving, worshipping, witnessing church

"And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers... And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved." Acts 2:42; 47

Ten days after Jesus ascended into heaven, the Holy Spirit fell upon the group of believers who were gathered in Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit moved in such a powerful way that day, that when Peter preached Jesus to an assembled crowd, three-thousand souls were saved! This new church was, in every sense, a "Spirit-filled" church!

In Acts chapter two, we are told that this "Spirit-filled" church was marked by four fundamental characteristics: they were a learning, loving, worshipping, witnessing church.

It is our desire to be such a church: a learning, loving, worshipping, witnessing church, unto the praise and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Scroll down for a brief explanation of these four things.

A LEARNING CHURCH

"And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine..."

The word 'doctrine' simply means 'teaching'. The early church continually devoted themselves to learning and following the teaching of Jesus' apostles. Why? Because the apostles taught the church what Jesus taught them! So we could say very simply that the early church continually devoted themselves to learning and putting into practice the Word of God.

It is our desire to be a learning church. Therefore we give priority to the clear and practical teaching of God's Word - the Bible - every Sunday. In fact, everything we do - from counselling to discipleship, home groups to kids ministry - is based firmly upon the Word of God.

A LOVING CHURCH

"And they continued steadfastly in... fellowship"

The word "Fellowship" simply means to share. It speaks of sharing life together, both spiritually (in Christ) and practically (with one another). And that's exactly what the Christian life is to be - a life of sharing our lives together.

It is our desire to be a loving church. Therefore we are committed to loving one another spiritually and practically in any and every way: from encouraging and exhorting to instructing and correcting; from serving and giving to sharing and caring; we desire to be continually stirring one another up to love and good works!

A WORSHIPPING CHURCH

"And they continued steadfastly in... the breaking of bread and in prayers"

Breaking bread (remembering the Lord's death) and prayers are just two of many expressions of worship. We can also worship the Lord through song; through proclaiming His word; through loving one another... in fact, our whole lives are to be lived as an act of worship unto God (Romans 12:1)!

It is our desire to be a worshipping church. Therefore we are committed to genuine, heartfelt worship of God... and not just on Sundays! We are committed to worshipping the Lord every day, and in all that we do! For He is always worthy of all our worship!

A WITNESSING CHURCH

"And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved."

As Christians we are all called to be witnesses to the world of the saving truth of the Gospel Jesus Christ. For some that will mean preaching publicly. For others it will mean sharing privately. However God enables us and gives us opportunities, we are all called to tell people about Jesus!

It is our desire to be a witnessing church. Therefore we are committed to bearing witness to the saving truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all we say and do; through the lives we live, the ministries we run, and the outreaches we plan. Let the whole world hear that Jesus saves!
